Budget Statement 2024/2025

The Town Council would like to share the financial plans for the forthcoming year and provide information on future projects and spending. This statement was compiled in January 2024 following preparation of the new Budget.

Local park tennis courts in Torpoint set for renovation!

Torpoint Town Council and the LTA have today announced a partnership to invest in and refurbish public park tennis courts in Torpoint. In total, two tennis courts will be renovated, with investment of £60,000 helping ensure that quality facilities are available for the local community.

CYBER SECURITY PUBLIC TALKS - THURSDAY 23rd MARCH 2023

Devon and Cornwall Police Cyber Security Team are holding two public talks in the Committee Room at the Council Chambers on Thursday 23rd March starting at 2:30pm and 7:00pm. Each talk will include a question and answer session at the end and will take up to an hour, registration is NOT required.

Cornwall Council Devolution Deal Public Meeting

On Wednesday 25th January 2023 at 7pm Cornwall Council will be holding a public meeting in the Committee Room, Council Chambers, Torpoint "Come along to a public meeting to find out what the proposed devolution deal and an elected Mayor could mean for Cornwall's future. Ask questions or just listen and find out more."

Contractor weed spraying of the pavements and road edges is scheduled to commence in the town from Tuesday 6th December, weather permitting.

Book of Condolences for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

A Book of Condolences is available at Torpoint Library and Community Hub for anyone who would like to leave a message, following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9.15am to 4.30pm. The building will also open on Saturday from 9.15am - 12.00noon and on Sunday from 12.00noon to 2.30pm. Alternatively, you can visit to send your message. If unable to visit Torpoint Library and Community Hub during these times, please post messages to the Council offices 1 - 3, Buller Road. The Book of Condolences will close the day following of the funeral at 4.30pm.

EXPERT PATIENT PROGRAMME

The Expert Patient Programme is a free six-week self-management course for anyone living in Cornwall who has a long-term health condition. It is run online by Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and people can self-refer to the course. New sessions will be starting in September. The poster has more information.

Go Cornwall Bus/Plymouth City Bus are attending Sheviock Memorial Hall, Crafthole on Monday 20th June 2022 at 6.00pm to discuss the recent timetable changes and answer any questions from members of the public. UKRAINE CRISIS SUPPORT

In support of the war in Ukraine, Torpoint Town Council has been seeking advice regarding how the community can support humanitarian help. The latest information is that getting anything into Ukraine, without being part of an organised charity is not an option. The best type of support is financial donations via a registered charity already on the ground in the war zone. The Town Council is organising a fundraising table top sale on Saturday 26th March at the Council Chambers, from 10.00am to 1.00pm, please contact admin@torpointtowncouncil.gov.uk or 01752 814165 to book a table.

Consultation on proposed extension of 30mph speed limit on A374

Proposed extension of 30mph speed limit on A374 Antony Road and new traffic calming measures prior to Torpoint Community College. Traffic calming measures include the provision of dragons teeth road markings and triangular school warning road marking and a new school warning sign. These proposals are to encourage lower speeds past the school and local YMCA sports centre and improve road safety entering Torpoint.

FREE CRAZY GOLF DAY - Saturday 19th February - 11.00am to 4.00pm

A free fun crazy golf day for all ages is being held at Torpoint and Rame Community Sports Centre on Saturday 19th February, from 11.00am to 4.00pm, no booking required. Refreshments to be served by Dreckly's Café. Please wear appropriate footwear inside the Sports Hall. This event is funded by the Welcome Back Fund which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

A minute's silence Monday 16 August 2021

The Town Mayor Councillor Miss Rachel Evans BEM will lead a minute’s silence at Sparrow Park on Monday morning as a mark of respect to those who have lost their lives in the tragedy that has taken place in Keyham, Plymouth. The silence will take place at 11.00am, at the same time as the city of Plymouth, who are uniting to mourn and reflect on the recent devastating events.

Town Council Budget Statement 2021 - 2022

To coincide with the arrival of the latest Council Tax documents for 2021-22, the Town Council would like to share the financial plans for the forthcoming year and provide information on future projects and spending. The attached statement was compiled in December 2020 in preparation for the new Budget and we are delighted to confirm the Play Parks have now been transferred from Cornwall Council to Town Council control.

Postal Voting

Postal Voting - With Local Elections due to take place on 6th May 2021 you may wish to register for postal voting. You can get the relevant forms to print and complete from the Cornwall Council website or collect a hard copy from either the Town Council Offices, 1-3 Buller Road, or the Library & Community Hub. Completed forms will need to be returned to the Cornwall Council address on the form by 5pm on Tuesday 20th April in order to ensure you can vote on 6th May. You must also make sure you are registered to vote by midnight on Monday 19th April.
